3 changes we are going through: communications boom (customer base, performance, new services -- 4% of the customers have an iphone and use 40-50% of the bandwidth), economy (V or W cycle for the recession?), the environment (3 20s).

Companies want to centralize and consolidate, eliminate local kingdoms.

Open VideoPresence has just been launched. It is meant to make video conference as simple as a phone call, accross all equipments, with high quality (telepresence) or low quality systems. Its main component is a concierge service.

Example of DSM (a Dutch Mining company) has setup 5 inter-connected locations for top 300 management, for many-to-many collaboration (apparently on a very large scale, with a lot of participants).

Another company paid off its investment in telepresence in 14 months (based on travel savings) with only 18% of travel substitution. The rest of the usage brings improved collaboration over existing tools and processes.

M2M powers imagination: at home (security, energy efficiency, comfort...), in town (smart cities), in the car (enhanced navigation...) and ... everywhere (health, internet of objects...). Orange envisons 25 billion devices connected in a few years.

Building blocks for the Cloud: access & network, resources services, software services.

Conclusion: not much to take from this presentation (especially after talking to OBS representatives last night ;-)
